No deterrents really - any chemicals, etc will be bad for bees - you are
limited to mechanical removal, scorching etc.
Wasps are much more physically flexible than bees - due to their wasp
waist! - and the small ones can squidge through much smaller gaps. I once
found them raiding a populated TBH through small gaps at the end of top
bars. The bees weren't bothering to guard such tiny gaps, maybe counting on
filling them with propolis "one day", and they were nowhere near the
entrance so there were no guards. Come in, help yourself.
Just monitor it periodically would be my advice.

to deter them, mum was very persistent and kept coming back looking in
every entrance, I have this hive set up as a bait hive so really don't want
wasps in it but dont want to seal it off either! I'm not actually sure how
she was getting in and out of the roof as it rests directly on the bars!
