That sounds great - thank you. Let me know how much. Our tel. numbers are on
the swarm list.

Hello Eric
That’s very kind of you. We are in Stanton St. John. I would definitely
like to practice catching a swarm, although I don’t have all the beekeeper
gear, just my own protective clothing.
Many thanks

Delighted
Will advise once we have a swarm. Precisely where are you please as you may
want to help catch them, if you want the practise.

Dear Eric & Jane
May I join this conversation. We live close to Waterperry and often go
there. We still do not have any bees for our skep. If the Waterperry
swarms start happening, it would be wonderful to receive one. We have
plenty of apple, plum and damson trees.
I am impressed with the photos and your Mum’s Neapolitan cockroach words!

Dear Jane
These are under Gareth's care at Waterperry , where I function as
unofficial swarm catcher.
The inspection to reveal the inside of the hive was only to demonstrate the
Waterperry hives to Primrose, their head bee person.
Sadly they are not mine. What I am doing is the hyperinsulated National
Hive transformations: rather less expensive but arguable beautiful in their
own way.
But then, as my late mother used to say (giving me a meaningful look):
"every cockroach is lovely to its Mummy". (Sounds better in Neapolitan!)
I think they have been there 3 years. The hive is quite full and a real
swarm engine!
It lies on a Ley Line intersection and one of the Ley Lines runs to a
nearby small apple tree where the swarms invariably land. This makes
catching them rather easy.
Your girls look lovely!
Cheers,
E

Hi Eric,
Great to see inside another freedom hive! This is a photo from ours after a
month, how long has yours been populated? I am amazed by how they build
such beautiful comb with no advice or help from us 😉. It is tricky to see
the depth, but they have built 8 combs about a foot in depth in ours in a
month. Good going but we did have a wonderful May!
Love this hive as I can see the bees flying towards it from my bed. A
lovely way to wake up and spend 5 minutes watching them before the business
of life!
They are also very calm bees and are active later into the evening than my
other hives, they catch the late sun!
Cheers,
Jane
