Hi everyone,
as we seem to have an inch or so of snow, this is just a reminder to keep an
eye on your hive entrances. In extreme conditions (Canadian winters) deep snow
drifts can block hive entrances and suffocate the bees. I've just had a look at
mine and there is snow on the landing boards, but it has melted next to the
mouse guards so is not blocked. However if you have a hive in a snow drift,
best check it.
Whilst I'm emailing, a couple of other things...
... there was a story in the news yesterday about a [Manuka Honey
scam](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jan/31/new-zealand-brings-first-manuka-honey-prosecution-chemicals)
in New Zealand. Once again, Too Much Money leads to Bad Things.
...The latest issue of BBKA News has a 3 page article on hive choices.
Apparently the options are National, or Modified National!
Hope you and your bees are all well insulated,
Paul
