Thanks Paul.
BTW This is a link to the varroa mesh pieces I buy from Thornes... 10 pieces
for only £5, I’ve found them really useful to have around.

If anyone is making a swarm box or their own hives, nuc boxes or even wasp
guards, these pieces of mesh are very useful. For swarm boxes I cut out a
square and stick a piece of this mesh over the hole with gaffer tape on the
inside to give some really needed ventilation.
Just a thought

Subject: [oxnatbees] New year, new bee events
Hi all,
well, I've finally written up the last meeting. Time to start planning new ones
(following a huge not-so-subtle hint from Ann).
I suggest we have one about honey, because a number of people have asked me for
information about exactly how to get it from a hive. Some of us have had hives
for a few years and never taken any yet. This is probably best done at my
house, where I have both Warres and, down the road, TBH's. We need to discuss
when it is OK to take honey, and the practical aspects of it. There might be a
slight complication in that we are looking after 2 aged parents now, but we can
work around that.
Does anyone have any other ideas for meeting themes? Or wish to host a meeting?
Or give a talk?
Also if anyone has any bee-related events they'd like mentioned on the events
page of the blogsite, let me know. Like skep making workshops, training events
etc.
Also talking about Events:
- OBKA members can visit the Natural History Museum in Oxford for a guided tour
by an entomologist on Jan 30th, 6PM. I went on this last year, it was good.
- There is a talk on ants, ant intelligence and ant hills on 12th Feb in West
Oxford. I have no idea if it will be any good.
- On Fri 16th Feb there is an OBKA lecture at the Natural History Museum.
- - - - -
2 of our hives were flying a few minutes ago in bright sunshine but the rain's
back now 8)
Jack - the school has finally found the veil you lent them! I am picking it up
today.
