Hi Paul,
Well it's an easier idea lol. It doesn't of course deal with the
rotation and removal of old comb but needs must as they say :)
I've been painting the house all day today and your comment re human
brains got my mind wandering on the topic of evolution and I found
myself singing the Galaxy song from Monty Pyton's "the Meaning of life"
ha ha ha. Still remember the lyric...well the old version anyway :-D

Oooooo that sounds like a good idea Ann.
This is what we humans do, we network our brains.

P.S. Sorry I meant to say this in the previous mail........ Marie, if you're not trying to move them but simply want to give them more room, then I'd put additional boxes on the top rather than underneath. I've done that on my Warre as it was too heavy to lift. They took about three weeks or so before they noticed the additional boxes but when they needed to use them they just filled them up with honey stores.
If you do put an extra box on top, I'd also consider putting a queen excluder between the new top box and those below. That way you can take the extra honey if you want to without worrying about where the queen and any brood are and you will still leave them plenty in the four boxes below to get through the winter with no problems.
