Thank you Paul and Juli for your ideas! I managed to get hold of my friend
Pete who helped me. We got most of the bees in the box now, brushing them
gently in. I am now waiting for them to settle, and for the stragglers to
leave the fence post (they had arrived at around 5pm yesterday, and there
was already a bit of wax on the fence, why would they do that when it is so
obviously not their permanent new home?). The garden owner was very nice
and understanding and is happy for me to go back at around dusk today to
pick them up. Great experience today!
