Subject: [oxnatbees] Big, manly hives
Hi everyone,
here's something to read while nursing your hangover tomorrow. Chris and Mary
Pym, near Wheatley, became beekeepers by accident when an ornamental hive he
built for their garden was occupied by a swarm of bees about 4 years ago. He
joined the group and got serious about hive insulation, and has written about
his latest construction in the attached pdf document. There are also photos of
the log hives used by his friends Nigel & Tim. If I recall correctly, Chris
once mentioned that these tree sections are so large they needed two landrovers
to drag into position. If anyone needs counselling because they feel feeble and
inadequate after reading this, uh, too bad.
Happy New Year in a few hours!
Paul
P.S. Gino - we talked about bees so long in Sainsbury's car park that they shut
the door as I walked up to it. Luckily there was a co-op still open on the way
home!
