Below is the information for the Thirsty Orange Event.
Bill is going to bring the jockey box. We discussed setting up a tent. Brian is
going to bring kegs with water to use as weights.
I will have two beers that I am bringing.
In our meeting there was no specific theme that was identified.
Does anyone getting this email have any thoughts or want to bring any
decorations to focus on a theme?
Who else is planning on bringing beers?
What time are you planning on arriving?

The festival starts at 1PM for the VIP hour. General Admission is at 2PM.
Festival ends at 6PM.
If you have not registered your beers do so by no later than Wednesday, August
27th, at 12PM EST. After that I will lock down the registration website so I
can start planning accordingly. So try your best to have all your edits in by
then. NOTE: The software has been finicky lately, so if it will not let you
edit an entry just delete the entry and create a new entry.
The registration software is how my volunteers will tabulate votes during the
festival. SO if your beer isn't registered, or you brought something the day
of the festival that is different than what you registered, it will make it
difficult for them to tabulate correctly. And in that case, votes may be
discarded. SO PLEASE, register soon and accurately.
I need to know which brewers will be sharing tents and how many tent spaces you
will need. I need this information by no later than Tuesday August 26th.

Logistical Info
- Matt Raby or myself will be walking around to ensure everyone knows where to
go, to make sure you're in the right spot, etc. We know you need your
wristbands and tickets, and we will get them to you as soon as we are able.
- You can show up to start setting up your tent at 8:30. No earlier please.
- Have your tents set up by 10 - 1030 am (Tents erected and weights attached to
each leg). We can't have folks showing up with vehicles to unload stuff after
that. If you do show up later than 10, you may have to carry all your
equipment in from the parking area.
- We will be providing tables, chairs, and ice. You have to provide everything
else. Every keg will get 2 bags of ice, initially. Folks will come around
later in the day to hand out more ice. If you foresee you requiring more ice
than that, bring extra on your own. You must bring your own gas, taps, beer,
tents, etc. And please do not ask the volunteer staff about getting ice. I
will make sure everyone gets ice.
- Every tent leg must have 40 pounds of weight holding down each tent leg.
This is non-negotiable. It's a Johnson City rule. This is about the equivalent
to a 5 gallon bucket filled with water per leg. A friend mentioned that a
spare keg filled with water would be a very easy transportable option for this.
Or even one of the large Cinder Blocks. We may have access to one spigot but
the line could get long so be aware. The fire marshal will be checking
homebrewer tents, specifically, around 10-1030, to verify they are to code.
You cannot tie down to the fencing behind the tents. If you have a two tent
space, two tents can be tied together and only 6 - 40# weights need to be tied
to the combined tents. But you cannot exceed two tents being tied together.
Good idea to just assume that every tent leg should have 40# of weight
regardless.
- Ensure your CO2 tank is secured - this could be something as simple as a
bungee cord to the table leg.
- Everyone touching a tap during the festival has to have a ABC Server's permit
on their person. Also non-negotiable. If you are bringing beer and do not
have a permit, have someone else pour your beer. The festival will not be
providing volunteers to pour beer as they will be pouring pro-beer and doing
other duties.
-Only serve patrons that have a combo of glass and a wristband. A black 'X' on
their hand is for designated drivers. Do not serve designated drivers.
- Each tent will have at least one voting bucket that says Vote Here. I will
also provide pens for each tent. I will instruct the staff at the gate that
the two tickets in each glass are for voting for their favorite homebrew beers.
They can vote by either writing your entry number or the beer name. If you
wish to provide signage at your tent reminding folks to vote or how to vote,
that is fine. I will not have any signage for this. I will let the DJ know to
periodically announce a reminder to the patrons about voting for their favorite
homebrew.
- I will be announcing the winners at the stage at 5:30. If you cannot leave
your tent because you do not have anyone to relieve you, I will bring you your
prizes after the announcement. Voting will end at 4:30. This will give my
staff time to count votes. NO VOTES AFTER 4:30 WILL BE COUNTED. No exceptions.
People are drinking and some will forget to vote until after the 4:30
deadline. Nothing I can do about that. No votes will be accepted after 4:30.
FRIDAY NIGHT BREWERS PRE-PARTY
Andrew Felty and Yee Haw have graciously opened up their space for a fantastic
time for the Brewers Pre_Party. I encourage you to come if you can make it, it
will be a blast. Here are the details:
When: Friday 4/29, 5-8pm
Where: Yee-Haw Brewing Co. production space
Who: Thirsty Orange participating brewery representatives, festival organizers,
homebrew participants (max 4 people per brewery/club)
- Yee Haw will be hosting everyone in our production space.
- Attendees for the event will receive a bracelet that will allow them to get
$4 pints from our taproom all evening. We are also encouraging people to bring
beers to share, like an open bottle share, that will also be held in the
production area only.
- Yee Haw is anticipating on having BBQ available starting at 5pm on a first
come, first serve basis as well as a free beer tap of Yee-Haw Easy in the event
space.
