We had a great meeting yesterday, despite some technical difficulties,
sorry about that! *Our next meeting is Thur. March 24 at 2pm. *
*League of Women Voters*
We had a presentation from the NC League of Women Voters about what they do
and how to set up a local league. After some good discussion, it seems that
there is interest in setting up an "at-large" group in the High Country.
I'm attaching the brochure about LWVNC for more info and we will discuss
this at the next meeting, in two weeks.
*Letter to Commissioners*
Berkley has volunteered to attend the County Commissioners Meeting on
March 21st at 9am, and anyone who can go and show support is encouraged to
attend. She will present the letter, with signatures, to the BOC during the
public comment period, which is near the beginning of the meeting. *We
still need a few more signatures, so please continue to share the letter.
The deadline to sign is Friday, 3/18 at 5pm!*

In December the Ashe County Commissioners adopted a "Right To Life
Resolution" for the county, attached below. Some concerned citizens went to
the meeting and expressed our opposition to this divisive resolution that
many feel is not a part of their job. Since then, a group has formed, and
along with Tara Romano of Pro-Choice NC, we have put together a short
letter to present to the Ashe County Commissioners. The letter expresses
our opposition to the Resolution and we are trying to collect at least 100
signatures. If you agree with the letter, please sign it and forward this
