Hello Linda:
Does your computer handle MS Word doc files or do you need txt files. I can make you a lists of what I have to share. If you ever decide to sell or trade those 78's please let me know.
Kenneth Atkins
P.S. I have a extra copy of Pee Wee King's whisper waltz and Slow poke that is almost new.

Oh my goodness! I do have some 78's in the country era, and I know I've got a
good bit by Bill Carlisle and the Carlisle Brothers. I'd be more than willing
to put what I have onto CD's. I don't think I have enough to trade for a hard
drive but do have a hard drive I could send you if I knew you had things I
wanted. Because of other health challenges that don't have anything to do with
blindness, I'm being way too slow in doing much more than e-mailing.  I'm
putting up what I can into Open Drive, but a friend of mine has been waiting for
months for me to put an SD card of music together for her. I've let her know
this is the last one I'll physically be able to do for her. Anyway, let me look
to see what I can do and what I have that I can possibly give you.

Hello Linda:
I have a windows 7 computer but have not got everything moved over yet. I
just got NVDA working two days ago. I put the link you sent me into Internet
explorer 11 and couldn't get it to do anything either.
What I have done in the past was to trade USB drives with someone to get the
stuff I wanted. Trading through the snail-mail is the only way I know of to
get things done.
I'm always looking for clean copies of what I allready have.
I wish there was someone I could ship this computer to get it put into shape
for me.
I still need MS Word with the spelling and grammer checker and the word
tables working along with the internet. I have found it
Impossible to buy entertainment anywhere on the web. Every site has some
kind of

barrier that I can't get through.

The only thing I can use the internet for is to find phone numbers and deal
with the business over the phone.

Hi Kenneth,

I think the Witburn charts are well represented already on Open Drive, but
thank
you so much for offering to upload the songs you have.  I've got Witburn
Country
starting in I think 1942 and all of those records back then would have
been 78's
I'm sure.  Darn, there's a whole lot of real classic country in Open
Drive.  I
just wish there would be a way you could get onto it.  I just don't think
that's
possible with Windows XP, though.

You sound like a pretty amazing guy, fixing up the record players you had
and
getting records from auctions.  Plus, here you are canning fruit when you
can
and doing homesteading and taking care of a llama and a dairy cow!  I'm
obviously not gifted with a lot of those skills.  How many acres do you
have if
you don't mind me asking.

Linda G.

Hello Linda G.

I had a wind up record player as a child where the springs broke and
someone
had put an electric turntable in it. My earliest memories are of stars
like
Roy Acuff, Gene Autry, Al Dexter and the Bails brothers. Later when that
player gave out someone gave me another player and later I bought one.
They
are all gone now having been wore out so Im going easy with the one I
still
have.

I have been looking for records since I was 10 years old and have about
790
records now. Back in the 80s I bought a large bunch of blemished
records
from a juke box company for .20 cents each. I kept the best ones and now I
buy auction pick throughs for $1 each. These records is what nobody bid on
and the auction house has to sell them somehow. A lot of them are like new
and I get to hear good artists I never heard before.

I have a electric turntable hooked to the computer but it only has 45 and
33
RPM speeds so I have to step up the speed with gold wave. I found the
setting to be 75500.

I like to restore old talking books on the 16 RPM records if I can get two
copies of the same book at the same time. I have about125 or more talking
books on the mp3 format I can share.

My sister overdosed me with rock and roll until I am burned out so I hate
the stuff and Im all classic country. I do have the Whitburn rock and
roll
from 1953 to 1967 if anyone wants it.

Thats enough for now, see you later.

Kenneth Atkins

Hi Kenneth,

Wow, would I love to hear a lot of those 78's!  Hope you are able to
share
with
us more about your farming life. Have you always been blind, or have you
lost
some sight recently?  My name is Linda Gehres, usually known around here
as
Linda G., and I'm from Alameda, California, across the bay from San
Francisco.
I do love the old 78's but also grew up with Rock 'n Roll.

Linda G.

Hi Kenneth, welcome to the list.
You must live an interesting life, pretty much living off the land.  So
you
listen to your music with a crank up record player?  Interesting,
very cool!
Marcia

Hi, Keneth,

I'm Rosemarie and I live in Southern California. Welcome to this great
list.
I hope you'll enjoy it as much as the rest of us do.

What this list is about is sharing music on a service called open drive.
There's a variety of things up there already. There are also audio books,
movies and old TV shows. Not only do we share music but we also give each
other support when it's wanted or needed. Some people here post
blindness-related articles which are quite interesting.

Wow, that's something about all the 78's you have. What state do you live
in?

Rosemarie
