SNOOP DOGG POSTS RESPONSE TO TRUMP'S TWEET UNDATED (AP) Snoop Dogg's
response to President Donald Trump's criticism of his "Lavender" video
is to use Trump's own words. Snoop posted an Instagram video of Trump
from "The Apprentice" saying things like, "Snoop Dogg, he's the
greatest," 'one of the nation's best-selling hip-hop artists, and
that's our man, Snoop Dogg" and "he's a very very smart, tough
businessman, in addition to being a great musician. 'Lavender" shows
Snoop shooting a toy gun that sends out a flag that says "bang" at a
clown version of Trump. Trump had tweeted, "Can you imagine what the
outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and
fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time! RAY DAVIES IS A KNIGHT
LONDON (AP) Ray Davies of The Kinks is now Sir Ray Davies. Prince
Charles knighted Davies at Buckingham Palace yesterday. Davies posted a
photo on his Facebook page of Prince Charles touching his shoulder with
a sword. NILE RODGERS SAYS CHIC WILL NOT PLAY AT ROCK HALL INDUCTIONS
LOS ANGELES (AP) The word Nile Rodgers keeps using about his
acknowledgement from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is "weird. His band
Chic (SHEEK) has been nominated for induction 11 times and never made
the cut, but this year the hall will give Rodgers an "Award of Musical
Excellence" during the induction ceremony. Rodgers tells Billboard
magazine he still feels "weird and ambivalent" about it because he's
being honored instead Chic. Rodgers says Chic will not perform at the
Rock Hall ceremony because it doesn't make sense that they're good
enough to play but not be inducted. Rodgers says he's fine that he's
being recognized for his other achievements but "it's still...weird.
TREY SONGZ SET FOR TRIAL IN SEPTEMBER DETROIT (AP) Trey Songz is set to
go on trial in the fall for a felony assault charge unless he can reach
a deal with prosecutors. A trial for Songz is set for September 12 in
Detroit. He's charged with aggravated assault and assaulting a police
officer during a concert in Detroit on December 28. Authorities say
Songz got angry when his stage time was up and his microphone was cut.
Songz's lawyers tell The Detroit News there's a 50-50 chance that the
case will be resolved before the trial. DEPECHE MODE RELEASE "SPIRIT
NEW YORK (AP) Depeche (deh-PESH') Mode tackle political uncertainty and
disillusionment in their new album "Spirit," or as Martin Gore jokes,
"First and foremost, we wanted to make a fun album. Gore says he wrote
the songs for "Spirit" before Brexit or Trump but they're still timely.
The band chose the word "Spirit" because it has lots of connotations.
Bandmate Andy Fletcher says the connotation for him: "Whiskey! 'Spirit"
