Hello John, what I need to be able to do, is convert files already either
on my hard drive, or an external drive to wav or mp3.

Hi Rick, CDEX, wich is up on O D, will do it easily. CDEX is my CD
ripper of choice and it will convert to several formats, as well as
re-incode compressed audio files!
