USA TODAY Bob Dylan is returning to the classic American songbook for another
covers album. On Tuesday, Dylan announced his 38th studio album, Triplicate, a
30-song triple LP due March 31. The album, his first after receiving the
2016 Nobel Prize for Literature, will be made up of 30 new recordings of
classic songs comprising three individual discs: 'Til the Sun Goes Down, Devil
Dolls and Comin' Home Late. The album will feature covers of American
songwriters including Charles Strouse and Lee Adams (Once Upon a Time), Harold
Arlen
and Ted Koehler (Stormy Weather), Harold Hupfield (As Time Goes By) and Cy
Coleman and Carolyn Leigh (The Best Is Yet to Come). Dylan's previous two
albums,
last year's Fallen Angels and 2015's Shadows in the Night, were both
collections of similar cover songs, garnering Grammy nominations in the
category of
best traditional pop vocal album. Dylan is scheduled to perform during the
Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Del., in June.
