Hi, Nance,
I love Otis's version of Respect. Aretha Franklin's version is good too but my
favorite is Otis's.

Yeah for sure, as Linda said, we all got to hear "Sittin On The Dock Of The
Bay." There was a DJ on KBIX in Muskogee, where I lived at the time, and he
loved Otis Redding, so I got to hear several Otis songs, such as "Love Man,"
"I've Been Lovin You Too Long," and others. I'm glad I got to hear those. I
added several Redding albums to the folder, so yall might want to check it out
to see what all's there.

Dvon, the most played song by Otis Redding is "Dock of the Bay" from 1967.
He
had some hits with other people especially Carla Thomas which were
played in this area somewhat on top 40 stations, but many of his songs
were played just on rhythm and blues stations. I hadn't heard much of
his music before "Dock of the Bay" came out, and then after his
untimely death during that song's popularity or just after it went off
the charts, well, all I can say is what a shock to us all that was.
Also, Otis backed up Arthur Conley on "Do You Like Good Music"
also from 1967. Seems to me without looking at Wickypedia that 1967
was a benchmark year for Otis, and like so many others who have died
prematurely, you wonder what we would have heard from them had they
had the chance to live longer.

Yes, Rosie. December 10, 1967. Thanks so much to Curt and John for
this material. I'll have to check Wikipedia again to see which songs
were his most well known. Thanks again. Devon.

Hi, John,
I think he was killed in 1967 if memory serves me well. I'd have to
look it up on wikipedia.

Hi Devon, all his stuff is from the 60's, as he was killed in a plane
crash, I believe in '68. I am currently uploading an Otis Redding
folder with 5 albums in it, so you should have plaenty of stuff to
choose from!
The Beach Boys stuff is now all there.
Enjoy:
