Just a reminder the Flat Car Contest will be judged at the club meeting on the
October 11, 2022. If you have not finished the car you have one week left. We
will have tables set up in the entry hall at the duck club for the contest so
when you arrive drop off the car there you entry will be assigned a number for
the contest. Please no owner identification information on the car. The
contest has two part. First is how well the car was build and did you use all
the part included in the kit, will it meet NMRA standards, are parts that
should be on the car but not included in the kit added, and how well the car
rolls (needs to roll down a 2% grade extra point for 1% grade). Part one has a
possibility of 17 points.
Second part of the contest is popular vote, there are two categories
Prototypically Loads, and Levity Loads. For first place you will get 3 points,
second 2 points and third 1 point. Winners will be determined by total number
of points earned in car construction and voting. Prizes will be awarded in
each category.
Remember this contest was meant to be fun and hopefully give members the
challenge of putting together a somewhat complex car kit. I think 22 members
have taken cars so hopefully we will see them next Tuesday.
