Dear Members: I have clarified a number of privacy points with the Free
List staff. I have implemented some key improvements as noted below. One
issue remains with items archived, I include that information at the end of
this note (direct from freelists.org, unedited by me).
1. I , as admin, CAN BLOCK any email address from subscribing. Therefore,
only Members and selected friends/potential members can subscribe. Only
individuals approved by the EBoard will be allowed to subscribe!
2. Our email list of addresses is CLOSED, therefore, only I as admin can
see it. We could open this list up to all our subscribers if desired. Our
list has NEVER been public.
3. Your email address never shows up unless you post (send an email ) to
ourocmr. Therefore, you can subscribe to only receive email from the Eboard
and others who desire to post. In this case, you do NOT need to send emails
to ourocmr, If you want to reply to a post with questions, comments or
corrections, send a private email directly to an EBoard member, not to the
list.
I hope those of you have not yet subscribed will do so. A reminder, to
email the list you type ourocmr@xxxxxxxxxxxxx in the To: line.
Attachments may not exceed 5 mb total per email.

Appendix re: Archives
Regarding the archives of posted material:
*Can the archive be disabled or protected?*
The archiving of a list can't be disabled. Please read about our mission
and purpose and try to understand that your archives are important to the
community. They aren't a privacy risk – we obfuscate all email addresses to
circumvent the SPAMmer-crawling-the-site problem.
If you feel that the information your subscribers post on the list
shouldn't be publicly available in the archives, please consider the
following:
- Email isn't by itself a secure medium. Should you be using email at
all for these things?
- Anonymity can certainly be important, but this has nothing to do with
archived emails.
- If you wish to keep information private, perhaps FreeLists isn't the
best fit for your group?
While we used to offer a means of setting a password on archives, this
feature is now disabled as it was being used too widely. Keep in mind that
FreeLists can't survive without open, free access.
