Call it the enchanted cabin of course. This sounds teriffic. The rock formation
could be considered a cultural resource..defined as collective evidence and
accomplishments of people. Buildings, objects, features, locations and
structures with scientific, historic, and cultural value!! There u have it. I
would like to be involved.Charlotte

Subject: [otp] Re: Sunday visit to Warwick
I had a very nice visit with Mary Wells yesterday. She really has found (and
nurtured) a paradise in her homestead. And she has a perfect hillside spot for
an Occupation shed, which is out of the utility easement, but dead center in
the middle of the pipeline path. Mary's partner, Keith, can dig out this spot
with his backhoe, to achieve an berm-ed north wall. And they have many of the
building materials necessary, and even solar panels to power the shed; wood
burning stoves...if we go into winter; and etc.
Plus, Mary went and applied for a building permit. Though told she wouldn't
need one, she explained why she wanted it, and the official was so impressed
and supportive, he hand delivered the permit to her!
About 70' uphill from the shed, is a very large rock formation covered with all
manner of flora. Mary's children, and now her grandchildren, call it the
"Enchanted Kingdom", and it truly is...and the views!! Incredible! It would
be lost to the pipeline construction. Mary King, Mary Walls suggested this as
an idle spot for a spiral installation around the base...we'll have to figure
out how to differentiate you two...lol.
We need to move fast, and since Mary W.'s only weekend off in the next two
months is Apr. 9th and 10th, (and since the 4/10 Summit has been cancelled), I
propose this as our weekend to accomplish our first occupation shed (anyone
have a better name?).
I am sending this to the otp list, and to Pat Larsen with NQPA (North Quabbin
Pipeline Action Steering Committee), which Mary King, Morning Star and myself
are also on. I am proposing that a coalition of we two groups, and also the No
Ned Affinity Group (Hattie, Charlotte, me, and etc.), undertake this endeavor
as a joint effort...we will need that much help to pull it off so quickly. And
Hattie could film the whole thing!
Mary W. and Keith would welcome occupiers coming to visit and spending a week
or two enjoying western Mass. They even have horses! We could list it on
Airb&b as a free vacation for Eco-terrorists...excuse me, Eco-tourists...lol.
Please share with me your level of interest, and availability to start planning
this. I am grateful and excited. In solidarity, Diane
