I have a Wasp Deluxe I can open up. Before I do that though, are we
sure the keyboard used for the OSCar is the same one that was used in
the EDP Wasp Deluxe?

Thanks for the additional info, Lennart.
You're right not expecting any reply from Fatar - I reached out to them to
help Syntaur to get Fatar keyboards but I never heard back from them :-/
Maybe I should try to pull some levers in Italy to reach up to Fatar
offices...

I found some more info:
Vintage Synth parts have gotten replacement keys for OSCar, they call
this keyboard "Style 14U".
https://www.vintagesynthparts.com/oxford-synthesizer-company/
Syntaur calls them K14U: https://syntaur.com/keys.php?key=K14U
The same keys was used by Siel and Crumar in some models.
Sounddoctorin claims it's an early Fatar model.
https://sounddoctorin.com/synthtec/parts/key.htm
It seems pretty clear that they were replaced with the keyboards that
Syntaur calls "39" and "41" (almost the same) that mainly differed
from "14" in that they had different springs. But somehow it's
impossible to find out what Fatar calls those models as well...
I have emailed Fatar, but do not expect an answer. But clearly, if
anyone need replacement keys, waiting until some of the above sources
have them is the key (hurhur).

Hi and welcome to the list Paul!
For all readers --> it is Paul K. Wiffen, who was deeply involved with the
OSCar and was a close friend to Chris Huggett.
Thanks for the infos you're sharing with this list! We'll wait for your
feedback on Witek.
I know Fatar and because of my nationality I already tried to help Syntaur
to get some Fatar "deal" - they simply do not reply. But I might try other
ways... ;-)

I heard that Fatar were the only European manufacturers (they certainly
are now) but I was never involved in that side of the process (so boring).
Chris certainly never had access to any of the stock from the Wasp Deluxe
as that was made by the second Electronic Dream Plant (Oxford) Ltd which
Chris refused to be a part of as he had lost so much money in the first
company. I suspect in the early days of Fatar the entry level keyboards
were very different from the more professional later units. Fatar are
still in existence so you could always contact them to ask.
I've not heard back from Witek yet, he might know where the keyboards
arrived from as he did final assembly at the premises of the company who
soldered the main boards.
I'll ask him about this as soon as he gets in touch
Paul

According to Paul (Wiffen), he's pretty sure that was the first time he
was hearing "Fatar" - but there's no proof of it (yet?!).

I also thought it could be the same brand as the WASP Deluxe, but turns
out only 50-100 of those were made, so there is even less info on that
keyboard. :-)
I do think it's the same though.

Hi Lennart - honestly I doubt it's a Fatar keyboard. The haptics don't
recall Fatar IMO... but yours is a good question - maybe somebody can
look at the keyboard and try to search for some indicators? Usually on
the side of the assembly there could be something...

When I disassembled and cleaned my Keyboard (don't do that, it's a bad
idea) I did look around if I could find out anything about make and model.
I think I decided it's some sort of Fatar keys, but I can't remember WHY
I thought so..,. Maybe it says so inside the keys? I can't remember it's
been over a year since I did it. But in any case I couldn't find any
other examples of the same sort of keys, including from Fatar, so maybe I
just dreamt it?
Does anybody know what keyboard the OSCar is using?
