Why 5K?
Being a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization, ACCTN has been growing
Knoxville Asian Festival one year at a time from 3,000 visitors in 2014 to over
40,000 visitors in 2018 and making an economic impact of almost $600,000 for
that one day festival.
We are also proud to have expanded our cultural programs to offer cultural
demonstrations and classes to local schools and communities. You can find more
details about our mission, value and programs in the attached flyer.
With growing needs, this year we are moving the festival to World's Fair Park
to give Knoxville and surrounding area residents a better experience at the
Knoxville Asian Festival. And that's why we are hosting the Inaugural Knoxville
Asian Festival Year of Pig 5K and 1 Mile for fundraising purpose. All funds
collected will be used towards bringing performances and more classes to local
residents to benefit our local community. While diversity is the core at
building a strong community, we would love to do everything we can to help
reach that goal.
About our Year of Pig 5K
A 5K flyer is attached. The course is set at Tyson park greenway and looping
through beautiful UT Garden the morning of May 4th at 8am. We would love to
encourage everyone to participate in the race. You do not have to be a runner,
you can also walk the course and have fun! All finishers will receive medals
(design attached) thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Randy and Jenny Boyd who generously
sponsored our medal production. We have also prepared gifts such as kimono set,
samurai sword, Taichi sword, Asian Festival Piggy Banks (for the year of pig)
to give to top finishers in different age groups. After run fun including
Japanese mocha pounding, tasting, rice ball and more. We will also be giving an
award to best costume of the day. Please ask people to sign up for the race

Volunteers Needed
We need 11 volunteers as course monitor, 4 to handle day registration and
packet pick up, 4 more to help with refreshments and after party, 2 to hand out
