They were very nice to me when I called to cancel my account and did not charge
for the lost equipment, I would call them again and explain the situation. All
of these little frustrations can take a toll.

hi Celia and to everyone else,
xfinity called both me and my parents approximately a week after the fire to
put our accts on "disaster hold" and to let us know there is no equipment
charges etc for a disaster like this one.
Maybe your account was missed?

Megan,
I agree. I will give you an example that I received last night. I got a
bill for $270.00 from Xfinity for their equipment. I do not think I have
ever been so angry. I am still angry. Just an example of a corporation that
makes billions of dollars that can not offer any compassion or customer
service. They make it almost impossible to contact a live body. Their
telephone customer service and "chat" can not help you. If Xfinity was
smart, they would have sent Marshall Fire Survivors a condolence letter on
their loss and verified that there would be no charge to their account after
such a catastrophe. After all, they have your current address and email in
their system.
Anyone else have this issue?

An open letter for our group regarding real estate harassment/fire sales:
Eight days after our family lost our home of 40+ years to the fire, an out of
state real estate person texted our mother and matriarch on her private cel
number. EIGHT DAYS. From someone my Mother nor I have ever met, do not know
and do not care to. The woman claimed loose ties to the community, feigned
empathy, and then took a sharp turn to the grifter’s pitch: “Care to sell
your land? I’ve been looking...”
Like many of you, we are receiving mail, telephone calls, emails - even in
person visits to our burned out homesteads - by shady, greedy people who
place their desire for financial gain, before any form of common decency or
compassion for our losses. Deep pockets and the ability to buy land does not
excuse abhorrent behavior toward fire survivors, who have plenty on their
plates. (Has anyone else heard rumors of inquiries like these from and/or on
behalf of Town of Superior elected officials?! These rumors seem even more
appalling/concerning.)
We all understand that there will be buyers, and there will be plenty of
them, should selling be the direction any of us chose to go. And I'm hopeful
that any sales can go to folks that could make decent neighbors in the
future, rather than these grifters. Should we consider circulating a list of
unscrupulous realtors, people, etc. who are soliciting "fire sales"?! I’m fed
up and want this harassment under the guise of sympathy to stop. I don’t
believe any of us deserve to hear “I’m sorry for your loss, but not sorry
enough to stop pouring salt in the wound for my own profit."
Any thoughts among our group on this? I’m all for folks in our community
doing what’s right for themselves in selling or rebuilding, and hold no ill
will toward anyone who sells, but sure hope to have decent folks in our
community, and not the type that are currently soliciting and harassing to
push their own agendas onto us.
Putting this out there for discussion among the group. Would like to hear
from you all in this with your thoughts.
With Superior Love,
Megan
