American Coot (Red-shielded) & Sharp-shinned Hawk (Northern) are default for
the US and are really the only choices for the West.
Dark-eyed Junco (Oregon) & Northern Flicker (Red-shafted) are the default for
Oregon all year long, but I would hope that observers would be putting notes,
especially for the flicker.
White-crowned Sparrow (Gambel's) has pale lores and pinkish-orange bill and
should be the default for wintering sparrows in C and E Oregon. Again, photos
and notes appreciated.
Song Sparrow (montana/merrilli) is the default breeding group in C and E Oregon.
Song Sparrow (melodia/atlantica) is C US and E coast lumped together. We had a
discussion about this lump and the near 0% likelihood of atlantica showing up.
However, I agree that the photo shows a melodia.
Hermit Thrush (auduboni) is the most likely and probably represents local
breeders as well....coming from the Rocky Mtns in BC & US.
Nothing here raises a flag for me except the Song Sparrow (melodia/atlantica)
and the photo looks good for that designation.

Subject: [orebird] Re: subspecies
Here is an eBird checklist with many birds i.d. to subspecies:
https://ebird.org/checklist/S76090051
This attached photo was sent directly to me. I am truly unfamiliar with many
subspecies groups, and validating some of these records is truly beyond my
scope in some instances.
Any input would be very much appreciated.
Good birding,
