Hi LiShan, last time I tried something similar I found out that the 'shared disk parameters' (mainly scsi1.sharedBus ) were not supported on the workstation version of vmware I was using, although they worked there as well (at least I managed setup a 2 'virtual' node 9i rac). Those parameter were (are?) only documented for the server version of vmware (see for example vmware GSX documentation). Cheers, L. ________________________________ From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of LiShan Cheng Sent: Sunday, February 26, 2006 8:28 PM To: oracle-l Subject: vmware vmx parameters Hi I am installing a 2 node 10gR2 RAC in my labtop using vmware. I have come across some doubts Setup: ------------------------------------------- Host OS: Windows XP PRO SP2 Guest OS: CentOS 4.2 VMWare Workstations 5.0 I am using a external USB Drive for all this setup, both Virtual Machines and the shared storage. http://www.seagate.com/products/retail/portable/index.html I have questions regarding vmware parameters, to start with does anyone know what does these paraneters do? (I understand they are used for Shared Storage). The best list I have found is here: http://dev.remotenetworktechnology.com/vmware/vmxfiles.htm diskLib.dataCacheMaxSize = "0" diskLib.dataCacheMaxReadAheadSize = "0" diskLib.dataCacheMinReadAheadSize = "0" diskLib.dataCachePageSize = "4096" diskLib.maxUnsyncedWrites = "0" scsi1.present = "TRUE" scsi1.sharedBus = "virtual" scsi1.virtualDev = "lsilogic" I cant find anything in Vmware documentation which explains about these parameters. Since I am going to use them I would like to know at least what am I doing :-) Regards LSC -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l
