my two cents.
Something I remember now, is at least in windows, Oracle 7.x was not
multihome, to migrate to Oracle 9.x to avoid some problems we found in
migration tests, we prefer to ask to reinstall server and that problems
dissapeared, and use a better hardware.

forgetting.I did use the same oraInventory for these.
