I got it. Thanks, that db_unique_name was it. Once I did that it told me it
wasn't a standby controlfile and so I new to replace mine with the standby and
it mounted.

P.S I don't believe my messages are making it to the list.

If this one does not, can you let them know - and credit Stephan Uzzell.

Thx

I am trying to recall this, but I think you just do an alter database mount.
Since this is a manual standby, I dont think it understands the standby term.
In effect you will just have a clone of your primary database in manual.

Not doing anything with standby control file, I get this upon mounting.

SYS AS SYSDBA @ radbdr> alter database mount standby database;
alter database mount standby database

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01103: database name 'RADB' in control file is not 'RADBDR'

I have hit an air pocket with the steps in creating a standby old school. A
bit embarrassing but I'm also under time preasure. I create the standby
control file on the primary and bring it over... but what do I do with it then.

I have googled, but it must be so obvious that I'm missing it. Data Guard is
not available in Standard Edition.
