Speaking of LDAP-based backup, I have a Perl script to convert it to tnsnames.ora: http://yong321.freeshell.org/oranotes/Ldap2Tnsnames.txt Some people use OpenLDAP to provide Oracle naming resolution. It works and is much lighter-weight. I wish Oracle supported it. OID is over-engineered. I can't find the step-by-step procedure. I once followed it and it worked. Now I only find: http://groups.google.com/group/comp.databases.oracle.server/browse_frm/thread/2de8c209ea06d4e7 http://www.orafaq.com/maillist/oracle-l/2003/12/08/0607.htm Yong Huang ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
