I concur with the fra. If there is any files in the standby’s fra that has any
other incarnations it will mess up the Rman restore/duplicate.

Using FRA? This behaviour I’ve seen many times, probably it cataloged(when
rman traditional restore/duplicate starts it does catalog FRA as part of
refresh) with old control file?
Practically tested - by removing old files or unset FRA then such kind of
issues not seen.
Maybe there could be other reasons, i will to listen from others as well. 😀

I did a duplicate for standby and then the recovery failed because of wrong
incarnation.
I reset it it and it was ok but does anyone know why the incarnation ended
up wrong?
or can you point to an explanation? Normally it works fine
