I just encountered a problem in my current environment with Veritas NetBackup 6.5, RMAN and Oracle 11gR2. I'm hoping that someone else may have tripped over the same thing and can pass along a solution.
We've just built several 11.2.0.1 databases on Solaris 10 servers. The NetBackup clients were installed. When the oracle_link script was run, we received the following output:

This version of Oracle is not supported in this script
Just for the heck of it, we manually linked the Veritas NetBackup library file libobk.so to $ORACLE_HOME/lib, then tried running a database backup. The following error messages were received:

Research revealed that the Media Server NetBackup version that we are using, 6.5, has some sort of incompatibility with Oracle 11gR2. Here is the Symantec note detailing the issue:

The Symantec note seems to suggest that Veritas be upgraded to at least 6.5.4 and the client patch be installed on the database servers.
We can't upgrade from Veritas NetBackup 6.5 to 6.5.4 this quickly. We have literally hundreds of servers that need to also be upgraded.
We have contacted Veritas Support and they said that they will provide a patch for our environment, but they could not provide an ETA.
Has anyone else out there run into problems with a version of Veritas NetBackup and Oracle 11gR2?
If you were able to resolve them, please let me know what you did.
