Hi David!
Please check out the value of the control_files instance parameter and
use asmcmd to check whether the file exists. It sounds as if your
control file was re-created, or at least if the new instance of the
control file was created. I am not sure why would that happen, but it's
worth checking out. ASM files never get overwritten, a new instance gets
created. I assume that this is a RAC database? Does this happen with all
instances or just one? That is the reason why I prefer ACFS over the
plain ASM.

ASM has been upgraded to 12.2.0 several weeks ago.
Installed new 12.2 software in new home. Altered spfile to cluster=FALSE, moved password files, etc, shut down the instances, tried to start from the new home and get this:

Ideas? Can't seem to find a similar issue with an exception that a TDE Wallet is not configured properly. This database had a tablespace using TDE over a year ago, but that has been eliminated and there is no wallet any longer.
