Forgot to add, does the cardinality of the column matter, what if the only possible values are "Y" and "N", what if 99.9% of the rows are all "Y"? Does the index still prevent a deadlock? What are the internals on this, anyone know? -----Original Message----- From: Allen, Brandon [mailto:Brandon.Allen@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, June 30, 2005 1:39 PM To: Post, Ethan; Oracle-L@Freelists. I recently had a problem with this happening frequently for an application called Khameleon. After adding FK indexes, the deadlocks vanished. -----Original Message----- From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Post, Ethan Sent: Thursday, June 30, 2005 11:32 AM To: Oracle-L@Freelists.
