Fully functioning - can they also edit the connection properties?

Subject: SQL Developer connections greyed out
Can anybody help me understand why connections in SQL Developer appear greyed
out but are fully functioning
I have seen comment that it is to do with the colour being set -
Connect/Properties - but that has not being knowingly set and yet some just
appear as greyed out but most are not
We are seeing a lot of users with this problem now and it is a question I would
like to be able to answer, if only for my own satisfaction.
