Real use of 12c -MGMT database?

Is there any document about the real use of the -MGMT database in 12c RAC?
Other than possibly losing support (because it's mandatory in 12cR2 per Doc
1568402.1), is there anything bad if it's shut down? What health monitoring is
it doing exactly? We have OEM. The database and the server are both already
closely monitored. Thanks.
