Jonathan, you should be ashamed of yourself! I thought you know
by now always to keep a usable version of parameter file on the
system and always to test using ASCII file which can be manipulated
by the godly tool called "vi". Put things into the spfile only after
you're dead sure that your database will start the next time you need
it.
