RMAN duplex

Hello list,
This is 64-bit 10.2.0.4 on RHEL 5.1 x86_64
I would like to backup to the FRA as well as a secondary disk at the same
time.
However, sometimes the backup will be large enough (due to archived redo) so
as to overrun the space on this secondary disk.
At that point, backups will fail to BOTH locations which is not good.
My idea was to set the secondary disk as an optional backupset location like
we can do with archived redo, however, I'm having trouble doing this.
Has anyone done something like this?
How?
