That's what I thought too. All of my soft links point to the .so
library.

The link below might answer your question. It appears that you might
need to change the .sl extension to .so.

Subject: RMAN Configuration

Hi List,

We are trying to configure the RMAN backup directly into tape. We
getting the following error when we try to take the backup after
creating the softlink from $ORACLE_HOME/lib for libobk.sl pointing to
/opt/omni/lib/libob2oracle8.sl.

RMAN> 2> 3> 4>
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================

15:55:36
ORA-19554: error allocating device, device type: SBT_TAPE, device name:
ORA-27211: Failed to load Media Management Library

The above error occurs for the both 9.2.0.5 and 10.2.0.2.
The omniback version we use is 5.5

There is an another 64 bit library file for the omniback,
libob2oracle8_64bit.sl. When this file is used in the softlink the error
message shows as follows.

RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-03002: failure of backup command at 06/25/2008 10:45:52

ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:
   SBT error = 7110, errno = 8324, sbtinit: internal error - invalid
argument(s)

Oracle says that this is a Omniback issue. Can someone please help with
this?

Thanks,
Raja.
