"applies to all Oracle programs" and ". It may not be incorporated
into any contract and does not constitute a contract or a commitment
to any specific terms". In other words, and in my personal opinion,
that's Oracle's opening position.
Others have noted that this is very similar to Oracle's "you must
license every VMWare server you own if you run Oracle on any of them"
public position.
I agree that *^&$%^££$%$%$ing about with customers like this is a
good way to lose them. Especially when the competition has some
fairly compelling alternatives. I *don't *agree that a policy
statement like this automatically means a big price rise.
