Rajendra

If I understand Ashok correctly, the challenge is that this is to be a *new* installation of 11.2.0.3 on RHEL 7 in order to handle a migration to 12c.

The 'lsp-tech-chart' says we are now in Extended support for 11.2.x.x.x.x.x The 'assets' PDF you reference explicitly states 'terminal release' in the Extended Support section, which means 11.2.0.4. (See the quote in my previous email in this trail.)

Sustaining support – only talks of 11.2

Also see section under Sustaining support in https://www.oracle.com/us/assets/057419.pdf

As I said you may get into issues if you run into issues that were fixed AFTER end of premier support

“Upgrade scripts (availability may vary by program) created during Premier Support and Extended Support (if offered and only after the Extended Support Period ends) “

I think – and I will try and dig for relevant MOS document if I can find.

From a support point of view as in on going support – especially for patches and CPU etc ORACLE will typically deal with emphasize the fourth digit

But for an overall support – and that in my reading covers upgrades – only the major version, 11.2 for example is relevant

However – if for the upgrade you decide to either use some feature – like RAT and run into issues, then it could tricky

But again for an upgrade to 12c my gut feel is that support will be accommodating so long as a new patch is not required

I would advise a quick SR to confirm

This is my reading

I will try and dig the docs and post – if I can find

Then you probably want 'supported', not necessarily 'certified '. In which case I'd contact Support via a SR to determine whether they would indeed support you i the migration and upgrade.

Others have verified that 11.2.0.3 is NOT certified, I've given a reason why it is not. But 11.2.0.4 IS, and thus it is worth asking whether your proposed upgrade path would be supported.

    Hi Hans,

    Sorry for the confusion.

I have multiple production Oracle 11.2.0.3 databases on Solaris
    10. We need to migrate these to Linux RHEL and was trying to find
out what latest version of RHEL can be used to host Oracle
11.2.0.3 databases. Once we migrate to Linux then we would plan to
upgrade these databses to Oracle 12C. I couldn’t find any matrix
for Oracle 11.2.0.3 and RHEL and checking anyone has some
    information regarding this.

    Thanks,

    Please define 'Certified'.

From Oracle's online "Oracle Software Technical Support Policies"
    at http://www.oracle.com/us/support/policies/index.html
    <http://www.oracle.com/us/support/policies/index.html> we read
    (page 10 of PDF)

    "Extended Support
Extended Support may be available for certain Oracle program
releases after Premier Support expires. When Extended Support is
offered, it is generally available for three years following the
expiration of Premier Support and only for the terminal patchset
    release of a program."

Note the last sentence, regarding 'terminal patchset', which is
    11.2.0.4 for Linux.

And from "Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Technical Products" at
    http://www.oracle.com/us/support/lifetime-support/index.html we
see that 11.2 is in Extended Support.

I personally conclude that 11.2.0.3 is no longer supported, and
therefore certification on newer OS is unlikely.  You may have a
different interpretation, in which case you may wish to discuss
    with your Oracle Support rep.
