Juan Carlos,
Please note that I did not suggest "joining" the two SELECT statements
together into a single SELECT statement. What I suggested was running the
two independent SQL statements UNION'd together. That is something
different, as the UNION operator has no impact on the SELECT statements
except an ORDER BY. And an ORDER BY clause should be pretty irrelevant for
an INSERT operation...

I can't think of any reason why two separate INSERT ... SELECT operations
cannot be merged into a single INSERT ... SELECT ... UNION ... SELECT
operation?

Hope this helps...
