Hi
OVM x86 (Linux) has pretty decent I/O performance, just make sure use raw
disks in the VM guests in production, in development or testing if you dont
need top I/O performance you can use storage repository based on OCFS2.

I am not sure about OVM Sparc (LDOMs) but it should have something similar.
I will check and see if I can find anything.
