Am curios to check with you, have you tried with 12c new feature ?
As i see the methods you are using they are upto < 12c.
RMAN> recover database from service ‘prim’
Anyhow internally it has to perform backup but at least we can avoid such
issues as performing incremental roll forward multiple times.
