Forgot one thing: the "older" apps are only certified on 10.2.0.2 so I
cannot upgrade the existing ORACLE_HOME.

Subject: Multiple oracle_home's Q

Quick question - just looking for opinions and/or experiences.

I have a current 10.2.0.2 Oracle environment running on RH Linux. We
are adding a new COTS application to the existing server. The
application vendor recommends running 10.2.0.3 with p4725385 (DBMS_STATS
ON PARTITIONED IOT WITH ADDITIONAL INDEXES IS TOO SLOW) though they say
their app can be run on 10.2.0.2.

Would you think it's better run in the existing 10.2.0.2 env or install
a 2nd ORACLE_HOME with 10.2.0.3 plus the patch? Assume there are plenty
of resources (disk, cpu, memory) to handle either configuration....since
that's what I'm doing. :-)

Thanks,
-joe
