Which version of Oracle ?

Is the HW enqueue for the table, the lob segment,
the lobindex, or the tablespace enqueue; does
it rotate around all four ?

What's your setting of pctversion - it may
need to be reviewed for 50 concurrent
updates - or if you're on version 9, perhaps
the FREE_POOLS parameter for the LOB
definition may be more relevant.

How do you update a lob if you've truncated
the table ? (or is there an option to truncate a
specific lob -- I must read the manuals again).

Subject: Lob chunk updates

: Anyone notice this? 50 concurrent updaters for a table's LOB stored
: out-of-line are serialized on the HW enqueue, unless truncated.
:
: Makes a person wonder if a filesystem is not so bad after all..
