Is anyone in this DL using ODM (Oracle Disk Manager) from Veritas? We
are using ODM in a 9.2.0.4 (64-bit) single instance 11i (11.5.9)
E-business suite environment on Sun Solaris 8 platform. The hardware is
a Sun 12K, 24 CPU with 96 GB RAM, plugged into an EMC DMX 3000 SAN. This
is the only instance running on the server and therefore there are
plenty of resources available. This instance is a copy of production. We
use this type of environments for load testing.
When we enable ODM in this environment, we observed high CPU usage on
the server with both %SYS and %WAITIO in the range of 20-30% each. When
we disabled ODM and ran the same test, the CPU usage of the above stays
around 10-12%. When I started using ODM, I had resized the buffer cache
from 1.5 GB to 10GB to make sure that whatever was getting cached in the
filesystem cache should now be cached in the SGA. I used Memtool to
estimate the 10GB number.

I am really interested to know if anyone is using ODM and whether they
have experienced the same issue or not. The ODM is part of the Veritas
DBE/AC product and it is patched up to MP3.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks
Amir
