Oracle Restart/GI for a standalone server/HAS are all the same thing. ASM is configured by default but I'm sure you could just turn it off. Interesting paragraph from the documentation: "If you install Oracle Grid Infrastructure and then create your database, the database is automatically added to the Oracle Grid Infrastructure configuration and is automatically restarted when required. However, if you install Oracle Grid Infrastructure on a host computer on which a database exists, you must manually add the database, the listener, the Oracle ASM instance, and other components to the Oracle Grid Infrastructure configuration." http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24321/oraclerestart.htm#LADBI1236 On Mon, Jul 28, 2014 at 10:33 PM, Andrew Kerber <andrew.kerber@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > I thought restart required ASM? > > Sent from my iPad > > On Jul 28, 2014, at 10:16 PM, Seth Miller <sethmiller.sm@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Andrew, > > That's basically Oracle Restart, isn't it? > > Seth Miller > > > On Monday, July 28, 2014, Andrew Kerber <andrew.kerber@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > >> The question came up today.
