You just need drives that support SBP-2 multiple login - all of the LaCie drives are perfect for this. Almost any firewire card will work as well, but the adaptecs are what we use in our lab, to great success.

There are some custom module options you need to do - look at wim cokearts firewire stuff for good documentation. And overall, its not as elegant as the SCSI or fibre channel implementations under linux. But it is eminently functional as well as cost-effective for development systems. Also, get two drives, so you can play with the ASM mirroring stuff.

Thanks,
Matt

Peeps,

Following on from a previous post about RAC H/W - has anyone got any
advice on buying firewire cards and external firewire drives for use in
a 10g RH 2.1 Linux RAC.

I'm about to be pragmatic and buy a couple of fireware cards and an
external firewire disk (obviously with 2 firewire ports). Anyone got
some recommended hardware that work with Linux Red Hat AS2.1 ? Are there
any pitfalls ?

My credit card is burning a hole in my pocket as I type !!
