We have historically relied on Unix tools to archive, rotate, and may be report
on app and db logs. Commands like ‘find’, ‘rm’, ‘tar’, etc. As we all probably
have come to realize, such solutions are limited and pose scalability issues.
Today, we have more options such as ELK, Splunk, and to some extend rysnc. I
have used Chef in the past to automate some of this work.
1) Does Oracle EMCC12c offer any tools/addons this purpose?
2) Have you implemented an enterprise solution to solve this problem? If yes,
what was it and why?
3) I know adrci has grown to provide more options. We can now set retention and
do purge. I do not believe it has a ‘rotate’ feature. It is problem something
we can extend via user-defined scripts.
