I am very conservative...If you are not seeing yourself upgrading
production to 6.4/11G why make the DR different? the Combo 5.4/11G is a
known entity and the last thing you want is failing over to DR to find out
that some OS/DB related bug is hitting you on OEL 6.4 which you do not have
in 5.4.

process of rebuilding the DR environment (data guard in physical standby).
Are there any benefits, risks and potential issues in building the new DR
environment in OEL 6.4?
Both OEL 5.4 and 6.4 are certified with Oracle 11.2.0.3.
At some point in future production will be upgraded, but I foresee that it
will go to a new stack of servers with 12c and OEL 7.x.
