All depends on how many layers between you and the disk... A "raw partition" might be looking a) directly at a chunk on a single disk b) at a logical volume presented by a software volume manager and thus be 'n' disks, (1<n<infinity) c) at a logical volume presented by a software volume manager which came from a volume manager within a SAN etc etc etc On 9/14/05, Ranko Mosic <ranko.mosic@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Usually it is mentioned as 'raw partition' which makes me think if it is > disk partition. > > On 9/13/05, Lou Fangxin <anysql@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > > You can use a volume manager, then create logical volume. > > > > On 9/14/05, Ranko Mosic <ranko.mosic@xxxxxxxxx > wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > > -- > > Welcome, Fangxin.Lou from China > > Home: http://www.anysql.net/en/ > > Mydul: http://www.anysql.net/en/mydul.html > > > > -- Connor McDonald =========================== email: connor_mcdonald@xxxxxxxxx web: http://www.oracledba.co.uk "Semper in excremento, sole profundum qui variat"
