Peter, Since you are on a windows machine, have you looked at process explorer? I gives you a different view of the process that windows is running. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx With test and production running on the same host, I would be very careful. I would shutdown the instance(s) if possible before attempting anything.
