APEX security

We are new to APEX. We are looking at putting it in our Oracle EBS
database. We would want APEX to be READONLY to the EBS objects. To do
this would I do the following:
- create a new schema as the default schema
- create a synonym in the new schema pointing to the EBS objects
- grant select only to the new schema for the EBS objects.
Is this what I would need to do or am I making it more complicated than
it really is?
