It is supported and accompanied by the corresponding DG broker property. The bad news is that it requires the advanced compression license:

The command (unsupported, I know) which enables the on-the-fly compression of stored archived logs, exists since 10g.

Also, since 10g, the V$ARCHIVED_LOG has a COMPRESSED column and V$DATABASE has an ARCHIVELOG_COMPRESSION column.

Question: Has this feature been finally supported on 12c? Or maybe 18c?
